 What are Marine Tie Rods?

Marine Tie Rods are anchoring systems used to tie back a sea wall to an anchor wall. Usually, shoring systems for marine structures like sheet pile retaining walls need support at the top. This can be achieved using a tie rod anchoring system which is mostly horizontal or at a shallow angle. This is tied back to the anchor wall constructed at a distance from the main wall. Anchoring can also be done using grouted anchors.

For special cases, we offer custom-made tie rods of any grade from S235 to S1100 in 20 to 300 mm diameter. Rolled threads are durable and have a better profile accuracy when compared to machined threads (for dynamic loads). In comparison to machined threads, fibres in the steel are uninterrupted in rolled or hot rolled threads. After rolling the thread, the outside diameter of the thread is larger than the diameter of the original steel bar.

In addition to round steel bars, we offer a complete marine tie solution using fully threaded hot-rolled bars. The advantage of using a hot rolled threaded bar is that a notching factor of 1.0 can be used whereas for a round steel bar depending on the design considerations one must use a notching factor of 0.6 or 0.9. The continuous casting method is used to manufacture all the round steels that ForceTec supplies and this means material properties are uniform throughout the entire cross-section.
